Trebbiano di Lugana, locally called “Turbiana”. From a genetic point of view, according to many scholars, it is similar to Verdicchio but from a phenological, agronomic and enological point of view absolutely independent. Recent studies by the University of Milan have recognized the genome of "Trebbiano di Lugana" with characteristics not attributable to other Trebbiani.
SOIL
The soil is of clear glacial origin. The descent of the ice towards the valley, with the debris transported, has formed the amphitheater of the morainic hills leaving, in the passage, the bowl of the Lugana.
This earth is made up of separate sediment layers and, today, the soil seen in section appears to be formed by a numerous set of relatively thin clayey-calcareous layers, with a first layer of 60/80 cm. made up of moved clay.
Characteristic is the so-called “leopard spot” conformation as the prevailing content of clay present in the soil varies greatly from area to area.
From a geological point of view, this area is made up of a varied stratification of compact clay, of a calcareous nature with micro-organic sedimentations.
This soil, together with the extraordinary microclimate of this area of Lake Garda, provide optimal conditions to grow
