100% Chardonnay from Adelaide Hills – 70% Southern Fleurieu – 20% McLaren Vale – 10% Woop Woop, a much-uttered knockabout colloquialism, refers to somewhere in the middle of nowhere, out there or in the Boondocks.
Harvested in the cool of night and gently pressed before cool
fermentation to retain perfumed citrus blossom aromas and
complex ripe pear and tropical fruit flavors. Approximately 10
percent of the juice was transferred to French oak barrels for
fermentation, adding a subtle complex layer of oak nuances and
texture to the lingering tropical fruits. A ready to drink wine
that is the perfect match to range of white meat dishes.
In true big country Woop Woop mode, Chardonnay grapes are sourced from incredible South Australian wine regions, namely the Fleurieu Pennisula. The unequivocally cool climate and very old podsolic soils over an ironstone/gravel base of low to moderate fertility is ideal for growing Chardonnay.
From delicious, crisp stone fruits combined with hints of lemon blossom and skins of lime, Woop Woop Chardonnay is a medium-bodied, richly fruity, dry wine suited for consumption over the next year or so. Tank fermented with minimal lees contact, this classy unwooded refresher shows distinctive aromatics and a well-balanced palate. Woop Woop Chardonnay will compliment a wide variety of meal choices, especially those with an ocean association.
