62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Sangiovese
This Italian-inspired blend opens with a well-integrated nose of fresh raspberries and cherries jubilee followed by notes of cedar and tarragon. The flavors follow with rich, red fruit complemented by a balanced body and lingering finish.
The American Super Tuscan blend features 62% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Napa Valley, namely Howell Mountain where the fruit is grown on steep hillsides and lends great structure to the wine. The 38% Sangiovese comes from Rutherford and Calistoga AVAs – valley floor fruit which offers rich complexity. The blend was barrel aged in French oak for 30 months.
This wine is delicious on its own or when paired with braised beef or veal, hearty white bean stews and pasta dishes.
The label takes its inspiration from Greek mythology. Atlas was a Titan condemned to hold up the celestial heavens for eternity. According to Greek legend, Atlas stands at the ends of the earth, in the west where the Nymphs of Golden Sunsets (Atlas’ daughters) reign. He also played a role in the myths of two of the greatest Greek heroes, Heracles (also known in Roman mythology as Hercules), and Perseus.
