Tasting note
Villa Bel-Air displays a deep color and an attractive nose with aromas of red fruits and violets mingled with delicate woody notes.
The attack is solid, the palate revealing gorgeous ripe tannins, with toasty and mocha nuances. The finish is ample and well rounded, with a flavor of licorice. Already tasting delightful, this is a wine for laying down.
Vinification: Traditional vinification and long maceration (20 days) allowing gentle extraction of color and tannins
The vintage 2013 was a year of frequent very cold weather and heavy rainfall. Early June saw a delay in the appearance of the first flowers on the Cabernet-Sauvignon plots, but flowering eventually occurred homogeneously on all the zones from mid-June onwards. The persistently cold temperatures and the rains of 17 and 18 June led to coulure in the Merlot. Excess water was absorbed by the surrounding vegetation, thereby fostering the development of the phenolic compounds in the grapes.
